2008 Presidential Election

The 2008 presidential election is most critical to the future of our country as so much has been lost over the last eight years and so much is at stake for the future. From an international economy to environmental issues to world instability, the issues that surround the US are profound.

As the 2008 Republican National Convention comes to an end, I was eager to see Republican Vice President Nominee, Sarah Palin speak last night. As the Governor of Alaska, I did know know much about her background, experience and abilities to lead her state and now potentially second in command for our country.

Her RNC acceptance speech last night, while interesting because she unveiled her experience and family, was more like watching a comedian who slams an individual or group than giving a clear agenda or vision for what the future of country can be. While McCain should lifted up for his service to our country, both in military and public service, Palin failed to communicate an agenda for the future of our country. It was less than inspiring in thinking about the future. Slamming the competition is a poor way of elevating ones credibility.

I am looking forward to the presidential and vice-presidential debates where specific issues and a vision for our country can be discussed instead of the elementary level of discrediting the competition that we saw last night in Palin's acceptance speech.

“Sway” is a provocative new book about the psychological forces that lead us to disregard facts or logic and behave in surprisingly irrational ways.
