Like a Rock, From a Tree
Artist: Steven Siegel
What:
Like a Rock, From a Tree is an installation in Korea centered on creating an installation made of recycled paper in the middle of a forest. According to Siegel, “The human species is creating a new geology through the reconfiguration of natural resources (trees to paper in this case, aluminium to cans, or petroleum to rubber tires in others), and their subsequent re-introduction into the landscape as landfill, trash or even compost.”
So What:
Regenerative cycle art work
Recycle and reuse of the human processed natural material
Location: Strategically locating a paper installation in a forest to show the link between natural resource and human-made product
Scale of the mass of recycled paper in the forest
