Hurricane

The hurricane season is upon us. Two weeks ago, Hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast, ripping up Galveston and other barrier islands. The destructive nature of this hurricane has negatively affected the tourism economy of Galveston. For this Victorian beachside city, the loss of revenue with negatively impact the community. A large restoration of the wetlands, brackish water and sand dunes of the island was about begin. I imagine that the restoration will be put to the back burner for a while given the circumstances of cleaning up the city.

Just when you think you get ahead, a hurricane hits......literally and figuratively.

a friend of mine's family house is now just sand. One day to the next.
It is not event possible to rebuild because the land is now part of the beach. I heard see levels will rise in the less the 20 years. They have started.
