Limestone is a natural material found throughout the United States. The most prominant areas include Central Texas, Virginia, Kentucky and Southern Indiana. In these regions, limestone is one of the most desirable material to use in the building industry.
Limestone comes in numerous shapes and colors. The colors range from a chocolate to white. This staining occurs from a natural process of minerals being deposited on the stone through water percolation. The water draws out the minerals and nutrients of the stone and surrounding material.
I have completed a study that identifies the stone color variation found in central texas. Starting with a chocolate limestone color at the base and ending with a white-blanco stone at the top, the stone was strategically stacked in a gabion basket, allowing for the stone to be safely but accurately shown of its color and texture variation over time.
